Initiatives

Explore our Initiatives for Liberty in Hawaii:

The Libertarian Party of Hawaii is working diligently every day to protect rights and expand freedom in Hawaii. Here are just a few of our projects:

  • Defend Hawaii: This initiative focuses on protecting the autonomy and rights of the Hawaii National Guard. The proposed legislation would prohibit sending our National Guard overseas without a declaration of war in compliance with the Tenth Amendment. We've developed working relationships with senators and representatives, who have voiced their interest and support in sponsorship during the 2026 legislative session. We've put together a complete, printable activism package so anyone can join the fight to bring our troops home. (add recent developments)

  • Ending Judicial Immunity: This initiative aims to end judicial immunity in Hawaii, which protects judges from personal liability for their decisions. This immunity shields corruption, waste, fraud, and abuse, undermining accountability. The proposed act seeks to hold judges personally liable for actions that violate individual rights. We have made a convenient, printable activism package designed to walk anyone through advocating for this crucial legislation.

  • Stop the Hawaii 2045 General Plan: This initiative opposes the Hawaii 2045 General Plan, a long-term state development plan. This plan threatens individual liberties through excessive regulation, zoning, and centralized planning. Such plans increase living costs, exacerbate homelessness, and favor wealthy interests over the public.

  • The Free Island Project: This initiative envisions a self-sustaining, libertarian community on a floating island off Hawaii’s coast, leveraging blockchain for governance and economic freedom. It aims to create a tax-free haven with minimal regulation. The Free State Project started with one person writing an article and it grew from there. Well, the Free Island Project letter has been written by Aaron Toman; let's see what it grows into.

  • Hawaii DOGE Committee: This is a state committee aiming to reduce government waste and enhance local governance across Hawaii’s city halls, town boards, and county commissions. Led by Hawaii DOGE Chairman Kevin Mulkern, a long-time Libertarian advocating for issue-based governance, the committee focuses on streamlining Hawaii operations and promoting their transparency.

You can become an important part of Hawaii's liberty movement. Volunteers are a key invaluable resource for moving the needle toward freedom.
