Steps to Get Involved

1. Create a Hawaii State Legislature Account

Having a Hawaii State Legislature account allows you to track bills, submit testimony, and stay informed. Follow these steps to set up your account:

Visit the Hawaii State Legislature Website
Click on "Register" in the top-right corner.
Fill out the required information and verify your email.

Helpful Tip: Use an email you check regularly to stay up-to-date on alerts.

2. Know What's Going On

Download this 2025 Session Calendar and print a copy know the key dates of the legislative session, which lasts from January 15 to May 2. It includes descriptions for each of the deadlines.

3. Track Bills

Stay informed about legislation that matters to you. The Hawaii State Legislature website makes it easy:

Log in to your account.
Use the Search Bar to look up specific bills by number or keyword. We will also provide a list of bills we are tracking on this page (coming soon)
Use the Measure Tracking tool to add bill identifiers to your list.

Helpful tip: Use keyword search to search for topics like “Defend the Guard” to see relevant bills.

4. Submit Testimony

Submitting testimony is a powerful way to share your perspective. Here’s how to do it:

Log in to your account.
Find the bill you want to testify on in Measure Tracking or click "Submit Testimony" if there is an open hearing for testimony.
Fill out the form with your comments and position (support, oppose, or comments only).
Attach any supporting documents if necessary and submit.
Written testimony submitted by the 24-hour deadline will be posted online prior to the convening of the public hearing.
Written testimony received after the 24-hour deadline will be posted to the Capitol website within 24 hours after the hearing has adjourned and may be marked as "Late".

5. Find Your Representative

Connecting with your representative ensures your concerns are heard. Follow these steps:

Go to the Find Your Legislator Tool (ArcGIS Web App).
Enter your address to find your district and representative.
Use the contact information provided to email or call your representative.
If you already know who your representatives are, go to the Directory Page to find their contact information. (More complete contact info)
